The Armenian Center for Creative Technologies TUMO has won the international WISE Prize for Education. The center received $1 million for developing a new artificial intelligence learning program and the AI colearner platform. TUMO noted that the jury's decision was related to the project's innovation, effectiveness, and scalability.
Prize and New Educational Program
According to the center, the "AI-assisted AI learning" educational model is implemented through the AI colearner platform. It acts as an interactive "AI classmate," helping teenagers acquire modern skills and interact with technologies. TUMO's Facebook post emphasizes that the combination of an innovative approach and practical effectiveness allowed the project to win the competition.
As part of the award, 427 applications were reviewed, of which six projects reached the final. The WISE Prize for Education is awarded to initiatives that make a significant contribution to the development of global education.
Activities of the TUMO Center
The TUMO Center for Creative Technologies has been operating in Armenia since 2011. Today, about 25,000 teenagers aged 12–18 are trained in digital skills free of charge. The program includes programming, music, robotics, animation, 3D modeling, film production, photography, game development, graphic design, and drawing.
The international TUMO network includes centers in several countries. In Europe, centers operate in France (Paris, Marseille, Lyon), Germany (Berlin, Mannheim, Hirschaid, Lüdenscheid), and Portugal (Coimbra, Lisbon). Outside of Europe, centers are open in the USA (Los Angeles), Japan (Gunma), and Argentina (Buenos Aires). In the future, it is planned to launch divisions in Astana, Montevideo, Luanda, Takasaki, Amsterdam, and Mumbai.
