Aurora Co-Founder Calls for Creation of Own AI in Armenia

Noubar Afeyan Sees Crisis as an Opportunity for Technological Breakthrough

At the FAST Global Innovation Forum, entrepreneur and co-founder of the Aurora humanitarian initiative, Noubar Afeyan, stated that Armenia should strive to create its own artificial intelligence.

He noted that discussing technology in the current environment is difficult: the state faces existential threats, limited resources, a weak economy, and high regional instability. However, according to him, it is precisely these challenges that force one to concentrate and look for new forms of development.

Afeyan emphasized that the world is experiencing a period of unprecedented pressure — wars, pandemics, information manipulation, and climate change are shaping the global agenda. At the same time, biology, which is closely linked to computing technologies for the first time, will have a key impact on humanity in the coming decades. He called this a unique turning point, opening up opportunities for innovation.

According to Afeyan, the future should not be met with fear. The country needs an idea that not only allows artificial intelligence but makes it part of its strategy. He is convinced that its own developments in the field of AI can become a tool for solving systemic problems, and imagination can become the main resource for Armenia's technological rise.
