German companies are increasingly viewing Armenia as a promising platform for investment and cooperation. This was announced by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, noting that the region is gaining strategic importance as a link between Europe and Asia.
According to Merz, it is important to ensure a stable legal environment, competition, and predictability to unlock the potential—these are the factors that German business assesses first and foremost. Companies from Germany, especially representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, traditionally approach foreign investments with maximum caution, but with transparent conditions, they become reliable long-term partners.
The Chancellor emphasized that the reforms being carried out by Armenia are key to attracting new projects. He noted that changes are always difficult, but, based on German experience, Berlin is confident in their future effect.
Cooperation between the two countries is developing in various directions: universities and cities are interacting, the Goethe Institute is preparing to open in Yerevan, and new Tumo centers are being created in Germany, where young people study modern technologies in a creative format.
According to Armstat statistics, trade between Armenia and Germany for the first ten months of 2025 reached $386.5 million, a decrease of 4.1% compared to last year. At the same time, exports from Armenia increased by 80.6% and exceeded $93 million, while imports from Germany decreased by 11.4% to $327.9 million.
