Armenia and Greece have confirmed their intention to expand cooperation in the field of high technologies — this became known following a meeting between the Armenian Ambassador to Greece, Tigran Mkrtchyan, and the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance of the country, Christos Dermentzopoulos. Both sides noted that the development of the high-tech industry is a strategic priority for the two states.
The meeting participants discussed progress in digitalization, innovation and the implementation of agreements stipulated by the protocol of the Armenian-Greek intergovernmental commission. It was recalled that the ministries of the two countries had agreed on a memorandum of understanding, which they would sign during one of the future visits. The document should become the basis for deepening partnership in technological and scientific fields.
The Ambassador emphasized that Armenia is demonstrating double-digit growth in the field of high technologies and is already attracting large international companies. Among the examples is Firebird, focused on cloud and AI infrastructure solutions, which announced investments of $500 million. Mkrtchyan also presented to the Greek side the concept of the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies, which has become a symbol of Armenian educational success in IT. Deputy Minister Dermentzopoulos, in turn, announced plans to hold additional discussions on expanding cooperation and praised the participation of Armenian companies in the DEFEA 2025 exhibition.
