Armenia Secures Large Quota for Electric Vehicles in the EAEU

In 2026, the country will be able to import 15,000 electric vehicles duty-free

Armenia will be entitled to duty-free import of 15,000 electric vehicles in 2026. Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan announced that the corresponding decision was approved at a meeting of the Prime Ministers of the EAEU countries with the participation of Nikol Pashinyan. This is the largest preferential quota for the country in recent years.

At the same time, the Armenian Parliament supported in the first reading amendments to the Tax Code, extending the VAT exemption on the import of electric vehicles for another year. The new rule will apply from 2026 to electric drive models manufactured after December 31, 2023, that is, to electric vehicles manufactured in 2024–2026.

These measures should stimulate the local electric vehicle market and make new models more accessible to buyers — especially given the growing interest in electric vehicles in Yerevan and the regions.
