100 million euros for a "green" leap: Armenia bets on renewable energy sources and new jobs

The country is launching a new sustainable growth program with the EU

The European Investment Bank and Ardshinbank have announced the launch of a large-scale financial program worth 100 million euros to support business and create jobs in Armenia. The credit agreement, signed in Yerevan, is the first direct partnership between the EIB and Ardshinbank and focuses on long-term economic development with an emphasis on sustainability and technological modernization.

Ardshinbank will direct the funds received from the EIB to small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as mid-cap companies. The financing is intended to expand production, introduce new technologies and increase competitiveness in both domestic and foreign markets. Special attention is paid to the environmental agenda: the funds will be directed to "green" lending - projects in the field of energy efficiency, renewable energy and other sustainable solutions.

Part of the loans can be provided in drams, which will reduce currency risks for businesses. The European Union further supports the initiative with grant funding, making borrowed resources more accessible. The program is expected to cover about 300 companies and save over 10,000 jobs. The agreement was signed on December 12, 2025 with the participation of the management of Ardshinbank, representatives of the EIB and the EU Ambassador to Armenia.
