Armenia and Azerbaijan discuss fuel supplies

Deputy Prime Minister confirmed negotiations in Gabala and admitted market cooperation of business

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan confirmed that negotiations on possible supplies of oil and petroleum products from Azerbaijan to Armenia had indeed taken place between Yerevan and Baku. According to him, the relevant discussion took place the other day in Gabala during a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Shahin Mustafayev.

Answering the question whether any agreements have already been reached, Grigoryan noted that negotiations had taken place and there are real opportunities for cooperation. At the same time, he stressed that we are not yet talking about specific contracts or approved parameters for future deliveries.

Speaking about the volume of fuel, potential buyers from Armenia, prices and competitiveness of Azerbaijani oil and petroleum products compared to supplies from Russia, the Deputy Prime Minister explained that further steps are the responsibility of private companies. According to him, possible transactions will be exclusively market-based. Earlier, Baku also confirmed the fact of discussing fuel exports to Armenia.
