Armenia Experienced a "Quantum Leap"

Foreign Money Flowed into the Country

Armenia has experienced a noticeable shift in terms of the presence of foreign investors in recent years. Compared to 2022, the market has undergone a kind of "quantum leap," said Hovak Ovakimyan, Director of Freedom Broker Armenia, in an interview with the ARKA news agency. According to him, the proportion of foreign investors among the company's clients has increased significantly today, which indicates a growing interest in the Armenian financial market.

Foreign capital arrives following the emergence of clear instruments and simplified access to investments. As an example, Ovakimyan cited the placement of Team Holding bonds, where Freedom Broker Armenia acts as the underwriter. The total issue volume is 35 million dollars, and more than half of these funds, he expects, will be provided by foreign investors. He noted that such interest is a positive signal for the economy and local business.

At the same time, investor behavior, both local and foreign, is primarily influenced by inflation and interest rate policies. In the context of a small stock market in Armenia, the focus shifts towards fixed-income instruments, which are more often chosen by local clients, while foreigners are more actively looking at the stock market. According to Ovakimyan, private investors have become more disciplined, the capital market has become more noticeable, and the development of the financial sector is increasingly moving towards digitalization.
