Fuel Hits the Rails: Azerbaijan Delivers Gasoline to Armenia for the First Time

Train with Over 1,200 Tons of A95 Transits Through Georgia

A train with gasoline purchased in Azerbaijan has arrived in Armenia for the first time. The train, consisting of 22 cars, delivered 1,218 tons of A95 gasoline via railway through the territory of Georgia. The arrival was confirmed by local media, noting the symbolic and novel nature of this supply route.

The delivery became possible after Azerbaijan lifted restrictions on cargo transportation through its territory towards Armenia. The corresponding agreement was reached on November 28 at a meeting in Gabala between the Deputy Prime Ministers of the two countries, Mher Grigoryan and Shahin Mustafayev. The fuel was purchased in Azerbaijan and belongs to two private companies.

The resumption of railway transit is also related to the agreements reached by Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington on August 8, as well as memorandums of understanding between the governments of the United States and Armenia. Previously, goods with Russian and Kazakh wheat had already been delivered to Armenia via the same route.
