Turkish Airlines to launch daily Istanbul-Yerevan flights

Starting in March 2026

From March 11, 2026, Turkish Airlines will begin operating daily flights on the Istanbul — Yerevan — Istanbul route. The decision was called "another step towards the settlement of Armenian-Turkish relations," Serdar Kylych, Turkey's special representative for negotiations with Armenia, said in X.

Although the land border between the countries has been closed since 1993, air communication has never completely stopped. Previously, flights were operated irregularly, but now daily flights will provide stable communication between the capitals.

At the same time, the issue of opening the land border for citizens of third countries remains unresolved. The Armenian side is ready for this step and has brought the "Margara" checkpoint into technical readiness. The last meeting of representatives of Turkey and Armenia discussed key issues of normalization, including accelerating the implementation of agreements on the partial opening of the border, reached in July 2022.
