Rosatom Successfully Completes Annual Scope of Work at Armenian NPP

The project aims to extend the service life of the second power unit

Rosatom has completed all work planned for 2025 on the second power unit of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant. The work was carried out by specialists from JSC "Rosatom Service" and CJSC "Armenian NPP" as part of a project to re-extend the unit's service life.

During the work, a significant amount of activities were carried out to improve the safety and reliability of the station, as well as to confirm the possibility of operating the power unit during the re-extended period. An assessment was made of the residual life of irreplaceable and non-restorable equipment, which was recognized as suitable for operation until September 1, 2026.

Work has begun to determine a new configuration for the reactor core emergency cooling system to expand the range of design-basis accidents. Preparation has also been completed for the creation of new classifiers for elements of reactor system and equipment. The first batch of metal witness samples was delivered to the research institute, and the test results will form the basis for assessing the condition of the reactor vessel and justifying the further safe operation of the power unit.
