Goodbye, Cashier: Yerevan Metro to Go Fully Digital Starting January 1, 2026

Tickets and passes will remain, but buying them the old way will no longer be possible

The Demirchyan Yerevan Metro has announced an important change: starting January 1, 2026, ticket offices at stations will cease operations. The transition to a new service model means a complete abandonment of traditional ticket sales through cashiers and a final shift towards digital and automated methods of fare payment.

The metro clarified that passengers will be able to purchase a transport card independently - through payment terminals installed at stations, as well as at service points and Telcell terminals. This format, according to the carrier's plan, should speed up passenger service and reduce queues during peak hours.

After purchasing a card, the user needs to link a selected ticket package to it. This can be done on the official website transport.yerevan.am, through Telcell terminals, or at Telcell branded service points. Thus, the entire fare payment system in the Yerevan metro from 2026 will operate without the involvement of ticket offices and cash payments.
