Purchasing fuel from neighbors will help Armenia save up to $100 million

This was stated by Khachatur Sukiasyan

Khachatur Sukiasyan, a deputy from the ruling Civil Contract party, commented on the situation with gasoline imports from Azerbaijan, emphasizing that Armenia itself determines the sources of fuel supplies and imposes nothing on anyone. He noted that for 30 years the country has been purchasing petroleum products from different countries, facing high transportation costs due to closed transport routes.

Sukiasyan explained that if Armenia buys 80% of the fuel it consumes from neighboring countries, the country will be able to save $80–100 million a year. These funds, he said, could be directed toward the development of other sectors of the economy, improving infrastructure, and supporting business.

At the same time, the deputy rejected rumors that allegedly part of the money went to weapons, calling such claims "childish" and emphasizing that the economy operates according to different principles. For the country's successful development, he believes, sound calculation and a reasonable approach are necessary.
