Pashinyan accused ENA of mass power outages on New Year's Eve

The Prime Minister called the company's violations the cause of problems in the regions and is preparing a reform

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that CJSC "Electric Networks of Armenia" did not fulfill its investment obligations, which is why residents of several regions suffered on New Year's Eve. According to him, without temporary management of the company, the consequences would have been three times more serious.

Pashinyan also accused the ENA leadership of long-term fraud: "There is not a single family to whom ENA would not add extra amounts to bills, including government agencies and the army." The Prime Minister stressed that the company does not have its own funds, and all its operations are financed by the state or consumers.

In the near future, the government will decide the fate of ENA: the first option is to transfer the company to state trust management, the second is to sell it to an authoritative international company with experience in the energy sector. Pashinyan promised that the measures would be justified and protect the interests of citizens.
