Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan reminded about the construction of the "Achapnyak" metro station at a conference call on January 12. The investment program is estimated at 98 billion drams, and funding is planned exclusively from the Armenian budget; negotiations with international partners are not yet underway.
The design work for the station lasted from 2021 to 2025, and implementation is scheduled for the period 2026-2031. The investment program has already been submitted to the Government for final discussion with the Prime Minister and approval of priority interest.
The Mayor instructed to clarify the timing of the preparation of project documentation, to which he received the answer that the project would be ready by the end of January. At the first conference call in February, representatives of the Mayor's office should report on the transfer of documents to the Government.
It is noted that delays are possible in future tenders due to the scale of the infrastructure program. The construction of the station is considered a priority, but administrative procedures may slow down the start of implementation.
As a reminder, the new "Achapnyak" metro station was one of the main election promises of the authorities back in the 2018 elections, but actual construction has not yet begun.
