Yerevan introduces fee for extra ambulance calls: what has changed since 2026

The state pays for 8 calls per year, all subsequent calls will have to be paid for

From January 1, 2026, the procedure for servicing "Ambulance" calls was changed in Yerevan. Now, each resident is guaranteed 8 free calls per year, starting from the 9th call the service becomes paid - 10,000 drams per call. Exceptions are provided for emergency cases, such as frostbite, stab and gunshot wounds, as well as other urgent situations. Medical teams are equipped with equipment for on-site payment.

Ruben Grigoryan, director of CJSC "Ambulance", noted that exceeding the limit is more often associated with patients with chronic diseases. According to statistics, 99% of residents do not use more than 8 calls per year. He stressed that the new measure is aimed at preventing delays in assistance to those who really need emergency support.

In 2025, the service processed 307,000 calls, 3% more than in 2024, which is due to the population growth in Yerevan. At the beginning of 2026, the number of requests decreased, especially during the holidays. In addition, the service has replenished the fleet of new cars with modern equipment, including electric wheelchairs, which improves the quality of service.
