Freight Transportation in Armenia is Growing

The total volume of freight transportation in Armenia for January-November 2025 reached 15,654 thousand tons, which is 2.5% more than in the same period of 2024. At the same time, passenger transportation decreased by 2.3% and amounted to 218,677.5 thousand people. Such data is provided by the Statistical Committee of the Republic.

The main increase in cargo was provided by road transport, which transported 12,311.9 thousand tons (+0.9%). Railway transport showed significant growth - by 23.5% to 1,640.8 thousand tons. Main pipelines transported 1,663.5 thousand tons (a decrease of 2.1%), and air transport increased the volume to 37.8 thousand tons (+1.9%).

The cargo turnover as a whole amounted to 3,623 million ton-km, decreasing by 2.2%. Road transport reduced its figures by 10.6%, main pipelines - by 2.1%, while railways grew by 22.4%, and aviation showed a record growth of 79.1%. The data indicate a shift in the structure of transportation and the growing role of rail and air transport.
