TikTok Promises 300,000 Drams - Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs Raises Alarm Over New Wave of Deception

Scammers pose as "social benefits" and hunt for banking details

The Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs has warned about a fraudulent scheme that is actively spreading on TikTok. Users are being offered an alleged 300,000 drams in "social assistance" from a non-existent fund. The publications emphasize urgency: citizens are urged to click on the link as soon as possible and submit an "application" before the offer expires.

As explained by the cyber police, these announcements are made by malicious actors whose goal is to extract confidential information. This includes bank card numbers, PIN codes, CVV, one-time verification codes, and other personal data. Transferring such information can lead to direct theft of funds from the victims' accounts.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasizes that state and social bodies of Armenia do not collect personal and banking data through social networks. Official structures only use .am domains, including mlsa.am, socservice.am, mia.gov.am, moh.am, and e-request.am. The agency also reminded about other identified schemes — from underground call centers to the purchase of activated WhatsApp and Viber accounts for 5,000 drams.
