Unemployment in Armenia is melting before our eyes: the number of job seekers has almost halved in five years

The Ministry of Social Affairs assures: the growth of employment is confirmed not by words, but by statistics

Over the past five years, the number of people looking for work, as well as officially registered unemployed, has almost halved in Armenia. This was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan, noting that the positive dynamics continues in recent months. According to him, data on the creation of new jobs is directly confirmed by a decrease in the number of citizens registered.

The minister stressed that there is often "information noise" around the topic of employment, but dry statistics speak for themselves. As confirmation, Torosyan published a diagram with the number of citizens registered with the Unified Social Service as job seekers and unemployed, as of the end of each year.

According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, at the end of 2025, there were 46,508 job seekers and 32,974 unemployed in Armenia. For comparison, a year earlier these figures were 86,396 and 58,173 people, respectively. The department believes that these figures reflect the sustainable growth of employment and the effectiveness of the social and economic policies pursued.
