Yerevan and Baku have agreed on the transportation of liquefied gas through Azerbaijan

Previously, supplies were carried out from Iran and Russia

Armenia and Azerbaijan have reached an agreement on the rail transportation of liquefied gas and bitumen through the territory of Azerbaijan. This was reported by Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan, who noted that Armenian businesspeople will now be able to take advantage of the new logistical opportunity.

The decision was made amid difficulties with importing liquefied gas into Armenia. Previously, supplies were carried out from Iran and Russia; however, it was not possible to avoid restrictions related to Iran, while Russian supplies were complicated by the situation at the Upper Lars checkpoint.

The new transportation scheme through Azerbaijan will make it possible to stabilize supplies and ensure more reliable provision of the country with energy resources, including gas and bitumen, for the needs of the domestic market and industry.
