Armenia is introducing a digital registry of tour operators and a point-based control system. This was announced by Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan at a government meeting. The Cabinet approved the list of data on tourism service providers, the procedure for their submission, and the maintenance of an electronic database.
The system will operate entirely online and be integrated with the platform of the Tourism Committee of Armenia. Tour operators will be able to register through a special website, after which their documents will be checked, and if they meet the requirements, a certificate for carrying out activities will be issued.
Additionally, a point system is being introduced: each company will be assigned 20 points, which may be reduced upon confirmed complaints. Information about the rating will become public. Authorities expect that the innovations will increase market transparency, strengthen tourist protection, and create uniform rules of operation for the industry.
