The National Assembly of Armenia has adopted amendments to the Labor Code, postponing the mandatory registration of labor contracts through a digital system. Previously, the transition to digital contracts was planned for January 1, 2026, but some citizens did not have time to obtain the ID cards necessary for electronic signatures.
According to the new rules, the use of the digital system remains voluntary until July 1, 2027, while all executed contracts, agreements, and orders will have legal force. The full transition, including the inclusion of previously concluded contracts, is postponed until June 30, 2028.
Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan emphasized that the system already operates according to international standards and provides for electronic signatures for employees and employers. By the end of 2026, it is planned to issue new ID cards, which will allow the completion of the digitalization of labor relations.
