The Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, Arpine Sargsyan, announced that the preparatory work for the introduction of biometric documents is proceeding according to plan: the design is being developed, after the approval of which the production will begin.
Old passports will remain legally valid until their expiration date, but citizens will be able to obtain new documents earlier if they wish.
To speed up the process, it is planned to introduce an online booking and preliminary data transfer system, which will allow you to issue a passport or ID card in the office in a few minutes. A prototype of new service centers is also being prepared for more comfortable service to the public.
