Yerevan May Get Direct Flights from Beijing and Shanghai as Early as June

Tourist Flow from China Continues to Grow

Armenian authorities are hoping to launch direct flights from Beijing and Shanghai to Yerevan as early as June. An Armenian private company is in negotiations with two of China's largest air carriers, according to Lusine Gevorgyan, Head of the Tourism Committee.

Currently, direct air communication with China is limited to a flight from Urumqi. At the same time, the tourist flow from China continues to grow: in 2025, the country was visited by about 45,000 Chinese tourists, which is 37% more than the year before. Growth is recorded even with a limited number of routes.

China is being considered as one of the priority destinations for tourism diversification. More than 40% of all visits are still provided by tourists from Russia, and expanding air communication with China should reduce dependence on one market.
