Armenia to attract $120 million for the development of seven tourist clusters

$100 million is provided by the World Bank

Armenia has ratified a loan agreement aimed at modernizing tourism infrastructure in the regions. This was announced by the head of the Tourism Committee of Armenia, Lusine Gevorgyan.

The project funding will amount to $120 million: $100 million is provided by the World Bank, and another $20 million will be provided by the government in the form of co-financing.

The program will cover seven tourist clusters — Areni, Dilijan, Dvin, Gyumri, Jermuk, Goris, and Yeghegis. In Gyumri, in particular, the restoration of the city park and the launch of new business initiatives based on the public-private partnership model are planned.

Special attention is paid to the potential of Shirak Airport as a platform for expanding international air traffic. Currently, flights to Cyprus are operated from it, and the opening of destinations to Italy is being considered in the future.
