EU allocates over €200 million to Armenia

Ahead of the first-ever joint summit

The European Union has confirmed the provision of a €202.5 million aid package to Armenia ahead of the first-ever joint summit. During a working visit, EU representatives assessed progress in developing a new strategic agenda, discussed transport, energy, and digital connectivity, and expressed support for Armenia's "Crossroads of Peace" initiative.

During the negotiations, the parties agreed on options for supporting priority projects in trade and mobility. Funding is provided through the Armenia Resilience and Growth Plan, with the second tranche of €202.5 million approved jointly with the country's government. Such support was previously announced by EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos.

In addition to infrastructure projects, the EU reaffirmed its attention to Armenia's "democratic resilience," including the protection of the upcoming electoral process. The new strategic agenda is based on the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the EU and Armenia (CEPA), opening up prospects for enhanced cooperation at regional and international levels.
