Production Exceeded One Billion kWh

In January 2026, electricity production in Armenia increased by 18.1%, exceeding the 1 billion kWh mark, reports Armstat. This increase was made possible by the active operation of all types of power plants and the increased demand for electricity at the beginning of the year.

Thermal power plants remain the leader in contribution with a share of 53.2%, followed by the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant — 30.4%, solar power plants — 8.5%, hydroelectric power plants — 7.9%, and wind power currently provides only 0.02% of production.

Experts note that the increase in production reflects the growth of the country's energy activity and the stability of the infrastructure. Further development of alternative energy sources is expected in the future, which will reduce dependence on thermal power plants and increase the environmental friendliness of the energy system.
