In Armenia, solar power plants provided 14% of electricity generation in 2025

Their share is growing

According to the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, David Khudatyan, solar power plants accounted for 14% of all electricity produced in the country last year.

The total capacity of operating solar power plants exceeds 1150 MW, which is 150 MW more than the planned level for 2030. Compared to 2024, capacities have increased by more than 45%.

Total electricity generation in 2025 amounted to 10,010.3 million kWh, which is 6.7% higher than in 2024. Thermal power plants accounted for 33.6% (3,360.9 million kWh, a decrease of 4.4%), the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant – 29.1% (2,914.9 million kWh, an increase of 3%), and hydroelectric power plants – 21% (2,106.4 million kWh, an increase of 2.3%).

The achievements show an accelerated growth of renewable energy and a gradual decrease in dependence on traditional sources.
