Answered - and left without money: The number of dangerous calls has sharply increased in Armenia

Scammers send messages via WhatsApp, Telegram, and Viber

A new wave of telephone fraud has been recorded in Armenia, as warned by the operator Ucom. Attackers actively use both local and foreign numbers, and also send messages via WhatsApp, Telegram, and Viber, trying to reach potential victims.

Most often, they pose as employees of banks, telecom operators, delivery services, or government agencies. Under various pretexts, scammers try to extract confidential data from users: codes from SMS, bank card details, or access to applications. Sometimes victims are persuaded to follow a link or install "useful" software – for example, supposedly to connect to 5G or receive free services.

Such attacks develop rapidly: in a matter of minutes, attackers can gain control of the device, access to accounts, and personal correspondence. Ucom strongly recommends not to tell anyone codes and passwords, ignore suspicious calls, and not open suspicious links to avoid losing data and money.
