Minus $9 million of debt: "Electric Networks of Armenia" prematurely closed the loan without external assistance

The company is reducing its obligations and preparing for possible nationalization

Electric Networks of Armenia prematurely repaid a loan of about $9 million to one of the local banks without attracting additional funding. This was announced by interim manager Romanos Petrosyan, noting that the settlements were made from the company's own funds.

According to him, the total amount of obligations decreased from approximately $397 million at the start of administrative proceedings to approximately $350 million at present. Over 8 months of management, the company also repaid over $47 million in debts, combining this with maintaining the stable operation of the power system.

At the same time, the Armenian authorities are considering the option of nationalizing the company, recognizing it as strategically important. Earlier, the regulator initiated the revocation of the electricity distribution license, citing a number of violations, including problems with reporting, investment programs and asset management. Representatives of the company disagree with these conclusions.
