Inflation risks in Armenia are exacerbated by the situation in the region

Pashinyan warned of rising prices: the main threat is not pensions, but the situation in the region

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that inflation is already present in the country, but the key factor in its intensification remains the unstable situation in the region. According to him, the authorities intend to keep the situation under control and minimize possible risks to the economy.

Earlier, the head of the Central Bank, Martin Galstyan, noted that raising pensions and social benefits could add about 0.1–0.2% to inflation by the end of the year. However, Pashinyan stressed that the impact of internal measures is less significant compared to external factors.

From April 1, the pensions of 623,353 citizens will increase by at least 10,000 drams, and the payments of another 39,594 people will increase by approximately 8,500 drams. In addition, an increase in benefits for people with disabilities by 10,000 drams is provided, which should support socially vulnerable groups of the population.
