Air service between Yerevan and Kapan reopens

Syunik Airport, which had been idle for about 30 years, has undergone major repairs

Flights between Yerevan and Kapan will resume on March 31, 2026, according to Robert Ghukasyan, the governor of the Syunik region. The break in flights was due to aircraft maintenance, which was carried out to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers.

Syunik Airport, which had been idle for about 30 years, underwent major repairs to international standards and in 2020 received certification from the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia. In September 2023, the airport received a three-letter IATA code — YUK, which made it possible to expand air service.

Regular flights on the Yerevan-Kapan-Yerevan route were launched by NorAir on August 21, 2023, with a one-way ticket costing about 20,000 drams (approximately $50). Now passengers will again be able to comfortably fly between the capital and the administrative center of the Syunik region.
