Will Gas for Armenia Not Become More Expensive? Authorities Rely on the Country's Role in the EAEU

So Believes the Minister of Economy

Armenia's Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, stated that he considers a rise in prices for Russian gas for the republic unlikely. In his opinion, the key factor remains the country's significance for the Eurasian Economic Union, which makes a revision of supply terms unlikely.

Speaking to journalists at the congress of the "Civil Contract" party, he emphasized that Armenia occupies an important place in integration processes, and this may influence the economic decisions of partners. At the same time, there is no direct confirmation of the immutability of tariffs yet; it is a matter of the minister's personal assessment.

Separately, Papoyan touched upon the topic of the country's possible withdrawal from the Eurasian Economic Union and the Collective Security Treaty Organization. He noted that participation in such associations should bring tangible benefits, and if this does not happen, Yerevan may consider accelerated rapprochement with alternative international structures.
