Energy on the Rise: Electricity Generation in Armenia Increased

Nuclear power plant maintains leadership, while solar generation confidently gains share

In Armenia, electricity production increased by 7.5% in the first two months of 2026, reaching 1.9 billion kWh. The growth reflects sustained demand and the gradual development of the country's energy infrastructure.

The largest share in the generation structure belongs to nuclear energy: the Armenian NPP accounts for 32.3% of all generation. Thermal power plants provide 18.6%, remaining an important element of the energy balance, especially during peak loads.

Renewable sources are gradually strengthening their positions. Solar power plants already provide 9.7% of all generation, slightly ahead of hydropower with 9.5%. At the same time, the share of wind energy remains minimal so far — only 0.02%, which indicates the potential for further development of this direction.
