The Armenian government is investing $25 million in the development of the FireBird project, allocating funds for the purchase of graphics accelerators for the future AI data center. The decision was made at the cabinet level and will be a direct contribution from the state to the creation of a national computing infrastructure.
The purchased GPUs will be installed in the data center, which is scheduled to launch in 2027. These capacities will be used for the implementation of state projects in the field of artificial intelligence and digital services, providing the country with access to its own high-performance resources.
Thus, the authorities expect to reduce dependence on foreign servers and accelerate the development of local AI solutions. The total investment in the FireBird AI project in the first phase is estimated at approximately $500 million, and in the future may grow to $4 billion.
