The Ashtarak–Gyumri section of the "North–South" highway is fully completed and ready for commissioning, said Minister of Infrastructure David Khudatyan. The official opening is scheduled for April 19, after which a mass car rally will take place, which anyone can join after registration.
We are talking about the Tranche-2 and Tranche-3 segments of the central part of the "North–South" corridor in Armenia. The project includes not one highway, but several interconnected sections, united into a single transport direction between Yerevan and Gyumri.
The total length of the updated and constructed infrastructure in this direction is about 70–80 km. The new section should increase the speed and safety of traffic, as well as strengthen the role of the route as one of the key transport corridors of the country.
