Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that after the increase in pensions, elderly citizens can theoretically afford several flights, including the Gyumri-Larnaca route. As an example, he cited an airline ticket found for about 2.19 euros, emphasizing that for the amount of the pension, one can make several such round trips.
According to him, this illustrates the growth of economic opportunities for pensioners and the authorities' plans to stimulate their activity. Pashinyan also noted that 63–70 years can be considered as an age for new beginnings, including entrepreneurship, especially given the expanding social programs and health insurance.
However, such prices are not a standard fare, but promotional offers from airlines, valid for a limited time and under certain conditions. In normal practice, the cost of tickets is much higher, and minimum fares for 2 euros are extremely rare and do not reflect the real average price of flights in this direction.
