The National Assembly of Armenia has approved in the first reading a law on minimum liability insurance requirements in aviation. The document concerns air carriers and aircraft operators and covers obligations to passengers, personnel, as well as for baggage, cargo, and third parties.
According to Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Armen Simonyan, the initiative is being implemented within the framework of the Common Aviation Area Agreement with the EU, signed in 2021. The main goal is to bring national legislation in line with European standards and directives in force in the industry.
The law introduces clear minimum levels of insurance coverage and regulates relations between key market participants. The new rules are expected to increase transparency and safety in the field of air transportation, as well as simplify Armenia's integration into the European aviation space.
