Armenian business rushes into AI, but gets stuck on basic digitalization

The paradox of growth that could slow down the market

Experts warn: before talking about artificial intelligence, companies should master email, websites and e-commerce, otherwise the effect of technology will be limited

Armenian business has already entered the phase of active interest in AI, but the fundamental digital base in many companies remains weak. According to Tigran Jrbashyan, businesses first need to confidently work with basic digital environment tools - from email and corporate websites to full-fledged e-commerce. At the same time, even such tools for some mature companies still remain unfamiliar, although they form the basis for further automation. Against this background, artificial intelligence is increasingly perceived not as a tool for transforming processes, but as a potential source of additional income.

International experts add additional emphasis to the situation. AWS representative in Europe, Matthias Unduraga, notes that the fear of AI is largely exaggerated: technologies do not replace specialists, but enhance their capabilities and increase productivity. His position was voiced at the Doing Digital 2026 forum in Yerevan, where the prospects of the region's digital economy were discussed. The general conclusion of the participants is that Armenia is already included in the global AI trend, but the real effect of it will depend on how quickly businesses master the basic digital infrastructure.
