Armenia and Turkey Accelerate Launch of Gyumri-Kars Line

Negotiations in Kars confirmed the parties' readiness to restore the railway to operation

A meeting of the Armenian-Turkish joint working group dedicated to the restoration and further operation of the Gyumri-Kars railway line was held in Kars. The meeting was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, emphasizing the relevance of the project for both countries.

Participants discussed practical steps to resume traffic and coordinate technical and organizational issues. Special attention was paid to the coordination of actions necessary to launch the route after a long downtime.

The parties noted that the earliest possible commissioning of the railway is of key importance for the development of the region's transport infrastructure and can significantly simplify logistics between countries, opening up new opportunities for freight transportation and economic cooperation.
