The Longest Tunnel in Armenia's History: French Companies Undertake Mega-Project for €858 Million

The Bargushat Tunnel will become a key element of the "North-South" corridor and will change the logistics of the region

The Government of Armenia has approved the signing of a memorandum with a consortium of French companies VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Razel-Bec. They will be responsible for the implementation of the Bargushat Tunnel – the country's largest infrastructure project.

The future tunnel, approximately 8.6 km long, will be the longest in Armenia. It will be part of the new 60 km Sissian–Kajaran highway, which is part of the strategic "North-South" transport corridor connecting key regions of the country.

The project is estimated at approximately €858 million and includes large-scale construction: in addition to the tunnel, the construction of 27 bridges with a total length of 4.7 km and another 9 tunnels with a length of 12.5 km is planned. The implementation should significantly improve transport accessibility and accelerate cargo flows through the region.
