The Armenian government plans to invest about $10 million in the development of the tourist infrastructure of the Yeghegis Gorge. This was announced by Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, noting that the authorities intend to turn the region into one of the country's key tourist centers.
The project includes the construction of a new road that will provide convenient access to historical and cultural sites, including the Zorats Church. In addition, a cable car is planned to be built from Artabuynk from the side of Smbataberd, which should increase the attractiveness of the region for tourists and investors.
According to the minister, in parallel, problems with electricity and water supply will have to be solved, which will also require additional investments. The authorities expect that after modernization, the Yeghegis Gorge will become one of the most prominent tourist locations in Armenia.
