Armenia's Foreign Trade Grows: Turnover Reaches $4.7 Billion, EU Sharply Strengthens Position

Exports and imports increased, but the trade structure is noticeably shifting in favor of Europe and China

Armenia's foreign trade turnover for January–March 2026 amounted to $4.7 billion, an increase of 4.6% compared to the same period last year. According to Armstat data, exports grew by 4.5% to $1.76 billion, while imports increased by 4.6% to $2.94 billion.

Trade with CIS countries showed a decrease of 14%, totaling $1.47 billion. Russia remains the main partner with a volume of $1.33 billion, but this figure decreased by 17.2%. At the same time, significant growth was recorded with Belarus (+18.8%) and Ukraine (+23.2%), although their share remains significantly smaller.

Meanwhile, trade with EU countries sharply increased by 54.3% to $763.2 million. Among the leaders are Germany with $136.8 million (+38.1%), Bulgaria with a fourfold increase, and Italy with $97.3 million. Other key partners include China ($701.8 million, +19.6%), Iran ($174.3 million, +6%), and the USA ($107.7 million, +24.6%). At the same time, trade with the UAE sharply decreased by 63.1% to $161.5 million.
