The practical phase of preparing the TRIPP project has begun in Armenia, with the American engineering company AECOM joining the work. A team from AECOM, supported by the U.S. Department of State's Global Infrastructure Investment Fund, has already started studying the terrain of the future route and preparing a feasibility study. The delegation was received by Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, who was presented with the preliminary goals and expected results of the study.
The TRIPP project ("Trump's Route for International Peace and Prosperity") envisions the creation of a multimodal transport corridor through the country, with a possible connection between the main part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and integration into a broader Trans-Caspian route. During discussions, the Armenian side emphasized that the initiative is viewed as a factor in stabilizing the region and expanding transit potential.
According to the preliminary concept, a separate company, TRIPP Development Company, is planned to be established to manage the project, with a distribution of shares: 74% could go to the U.S. and 26% would remain with Armenia, with the prospect of changing the structure upon long-term extension of the agreement. The Armenian authorities are betting that the new route can strengthen the country's role as a transit hub and open up additional logistical opportunities for the region.
