The country's total public debt reached $14.077 billion as of March 31, 2026, despite a slight decrease of $57.8 million during the month. Compared to the end of 2025, the indicator, on the contrary, increased. In dram terms, the volume of obligations amounted to 5.314 trillion drams, also showing a moderate monthly reduction, but maintaining an upward trend year-on-year.
The main part of the debt falls on the government — $14.069 billion, while communities account for only $8.2 million. At the same time, the structure continues to shift: the government's external debt decreased to $6.673 billion, while domestic debt grew to $7.396 billion, practically equaling external obligations and increasing dependence on domestic borrowing.
Separately, a decrease in the Central Bank's debt burden to $482.4 million is noted. Overall, the trend for the month appears mixed: external obligations are gradually decreasing, while the domestic government borrowing market continues to expand, compensating for the outflow of external financing and maintaining the overall debt level above the $14 billion mark.
