Armenia plans to rename the Ministry of High-Tech Industry to the Ministry of High-Tech Industry and Artificial Intelligence. The corresponding draft has already been submitted for public discussion on the government portal e-draft, where initiatives to change the regulatory framework are published.
As stated in the explanatory materials, the decision is related to the expansion of the department's tasks. Now, its area of responsibility is planned to officially include the formation and implementation of state policy in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as the development of cloud computing services and digital infrastructure.
In fact, this is about assigning a new technological agenda to the ministry, where AI is considered as a separate strategic direction. The authorities expect that the updated mandate will allow for faster implementation of digital solutions in public administration and strengthen the country's position in the high-tech sector.
