Armenia tightens control over crypto market: violations and unlicensed operations revealed

State Revenue Committee uncovered illegal crypto asset operations and tax evasion cases

The State Revenue Committee of Armenia reported detected violations in the sphere of crypto asset trading and related services. Inspections were aimed at identifying activities without a license and without state registration.

According to the agency, two economic entities conducted operations with crypto assets without proper authorization. The materials have been forwarded to the legal department of the SRC to address the issue of administrative liability. It was also established that 14 individuals conducted operations with crypto assets without state registration, some of them providing related services.

A separate case shows signs of economic crime — the materials have been sent to the Investigative Committee of Armenia for possible initiation of a criminal case. In addition, seven taxpayers were found to have understated sales turnover; they were instructed to submit amended declarations and declare previously concealed income. Information about all market participants has also been forwarded to the Central Bank of Armenia.
