Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu stated that economic cooperation with Russia is the main factor in Armenia's growth. According to him, Russia supplies gas, grain, flour, fertilizers, and fuel to the country at prices that are on average three times lower than market prices.

He also noted that Russia accounts for 36% of Armenia's foreign trade turnover, ranking first in both exports and imports. Tourism also plays a significant role: about 40% of all foreign tourists in 2025 came from Russia. Last year alone, 921 thousand Russians visited Armenia, and in the first quarter of this year – almost another quarter of a million.

According to data provided by Shoigu, up to 98% of Armenian agricultural exports go to Russia, and the share of strong alcoholic beverages reaches 78%. He emphasized that Russian tourists and economic activity significantly support the hotel sector, restaurants, air travel, and the entire tourism infrastructure of the country.
