Armenian airline Shirak Avia began operating direct flights on the Yerevan – Tashkent – Yerevan route from June 2, 2026. The new route connected the capitals of Armenia and Uzbekistan with regular air service and expanded the carrier's route network.

According to Zvartnots International Airport, flights will be operated once a week – on Tuesdays. It is expected that the new route will be in demand among both tourists and passengers traveling for business and family matters.

Shirak Avia was registered in 2019 and received a certificate for regular commercial air transportation in October 2021. The airline's base airport is Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport, but the summer schedule also includes flights through Shirak Airport in Gyumri.

The launch of the route was another step in expanding air communication between the countries of Central Asia and the South Caucasus. Direct flights reduce travel time and simplify transport links between the two capitals.
