Armenia and the European Union discussed expanding cooperation in the fields of space technologies, Earth observation, and defense innovations. These issues were among the main topics of the meeting between the Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, and the European Commissioner for Defense and Space, Andrius Kubilius, which took place within the framework of the international defense technology exhibition Eurosatory 2026 in France.
The Ambassador of Armenia to France, Arman Khachatryan, also participated in the meeting. The parties considered prospects for deepening cooperation in high-tech areas of strategic importance for both Armenia and the European Union. Special attention was paid to the development of defense technologies, space security, Earth remote sensing, and cooperation with the European Commission's Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space.
Mkhitar Hayrapetyan presented the priorities of the Armenian government in the field of high technologies, including the modernization of the defense technology sector, the development of national space competencies, and support for the innovation ecosystem. Following the negotiations, the parties confirmed their interest in further strengthening the partnership and continuing dialogue on joint projects in strategically important technological spheres.
